channel tres v. slick rick
I don’t know about you, but this week has been entirely too slow for me. To witness each second graze by my infinite peripheral is nice, but sheesh, I need the hours to go by . Am I the only one who feels this way? I’m sure of it. Since I’ve become slightly irritable of time’s relative nuance, I will share something that’ll help us both through the next week or so.
The other day, the realization of my shortcomings braced me with the question: “When was the last time you made a mix?” You know a mix, don’t you? For those unaware, a mix takes two or more separate songs to create. This type of mix can be pursued in a variety of ways. Sometimes there’s the House mix where a simple drum pattern takes the melodies and vocals of a song to expand the length of the track for use in clubs or bigger shows. There’s the Hip-Hop and R&B mix that remixes an R&B track for rapper to add a verse. What I have for you here, is the type of mix that only adds a few touches to the track. It simply utilizes an instrumental and/or acapella of either song to marry two eras of music for a modern blend.
I’m honestly not sure of the last time I tried my hand at anything like this. Upon completion, I was so excited that I started a new Youtube page for the website. Out with the old and in with the new. Your time is appreciated, however, your feedback is requested. I’ve compiled a few shots from my recent flights around San Francisco, so you’ll have some great views of the city as you vibe out. The songs I used are called, Topdown, by Channel Tres, and Children’s Story, by Slick Rick.
Enjoy. (Access video here -> Channel Tres v. Slick Rick: a raph.radio mix)
