Why JAX time capsule?

You’re curious.  Who is this man?  He’s American?  He raps?  You’ve probably drawn a few conclusions from these questions.  It’s okay.  The opinions, ideas, and beliefs of all, especially yours, are valued.  We understand and would like to extend our perspective since such underdefined (mostly incorrect) labels are implemented in societies across the world.  Think of these entries as invitations to our idea that there is a deeper, important story about people.

One of those stories is performed in the song running, the first track from JAX time capsule.  Written and produced by the artist, the song suggests a tired and fearful attitude.  One that resorts to substances to help a natural function like sleep, but for an unusually long amount of time.  The soothing, aggressive motivation of the song’s chorus, is a character that can bring one to impulses.

Have you ever wanted to do something in life?  Anything.  Talk to a person, pursue a job, cook breakfast, do a sport…And have you ever procrastinated to the result of unfulfillment?  Now imagine a person that could be there to show you the lacking aspect of your character.  A person that could arouse your passions, creating anger inside you about the person you don’t realize you’ve been.  If you were made aware of the coward within you, how would you feel?  It’s possible you don’t care.  It’s also possible you feel sadness.  You may, in response to a new sensing of your personality, choose to quit, or even, act immediately upon what you believe is true, despite being told otherwise.  There are many possibilities.  It all depends on the person.

I enjoy the song, because it feels like a small scene in a comedy.  The lyrics are likely coming from someone that cares about the main character, or someone who doesn’t care but just cares to influence their decision-making.  The moment they’re saying these things is likely before the main character does something really smart or really stupid.  It’s also a quite vibey beat and sampled (I won’t reveal).  I’d like to make more like it.  I think, with the sounds that are there, I tried to make an afrobeat track.  It was sounding very inauthentic, so I brought it back to R&B, but managed to pick the rhythm up with the rims.  It felt island-like and started working.  I’m not sure why I cut it from JAX, USA.  It sucks when an artist is left feeling like they don’t have support, but it’s nice analyzing the courage I possess now to release it versus then.  The time capsule concept supports asking the question, “What has changed?”, and I love being able to answer that with a source I’ve created.

In weird dancer, also written and produced by the artist, we’re presented exactly that.  The catchy chorus directs the listener towards a dancer of uniquely laughable, though commendable skill.  The first verse raps the mediocrity of bland compliments, diving into the animated peripheral of the artist.  What piques his interests?  The second verse offers a comical return to a rather deep concept that sinks into an unexpectedly horrific consequence if one doesn’t utilize a “test” to help them choose a woman.

This track is pure fiction.  Haha!  A box within a box.  These types of songs are my favorite to write because they’re so much fun.  I give room for my listener to see and think whatever they want…So I’m singing and rapping about quirks that a romantic interest may have here.  To me, they’re the aspect of the person you actually like.  And you must pay attention for them.  The way someone conducts themselves.  Their tone of voice.  The mannerisms.  How they move their face, eyebrows, mouth, ears.  How they use their hands.  I built that idea after meeting different people, getting to know them, and gaining a better understanding of who I am.  I’m sure most people have.  I think a cool quirk is dancing weird, too, ya know?  Dancing is so revealing.  You see the way a person moves their body.  Body movements tell a lot.  A movement can be slow or quick.  Aggressive or calm.  Calculated or freestyled.  Skilled or amateur.  I also think I dance weird haha, though in this track, I’m making fun of another and eventually, praising them for it.  It’s a nice paradox.  I may have to write about my own weird dancing to be fair.  Hmm, let’s see. And just in case you’re thinking you must follow the quote-on-quote, rules, in the second verse; No!  Think of the laws in various governments and books that try to keep people from doing…Anything!  They usually end with a punishment of some sort to keep you thinking/feeling that you shouldn’t do a certain something.  Well, this is a parody of that.  That’s why there’s zombies and shit at the end lol.  And the beat is so simple.  The melody is built upon the sampled base heard throughout.  Maybe you can spot it; good luck, lol.  I would also say because of the beat, that this is an album cut that could easily jam in a club.  Or cruising down a fashion district.  Even leaving the crib by car wearing sweats, to do chill shit, like pick up breakfast, small groceries, or pick up your shawty for a ride.

So, I hope with these 2 tracks you’ll have some good fun…

…As we’re excited to be releasing this new music, please bring our sounds where you feel most at home.  Share them with those you’re close to.  Discuss your ideas about this life.  And drop a comment, even if it’s to say hello.
